How can I remove a Specialty?
The "Apple Support Communities" system randomly assigned me a "Specialty" that I have no experience or skill in whatsoever.

Agree… hey I've just discovered i get an "iTunes Specialties" just for posting a question… How can forum users find this useful ? Such "ranks" are ridiculous… forum administrator should redefine them properly. If I ask a question about an issue it does not mean I am specially interested in… I just want my problem to be resolved in some way. Best!

It's been two years and the specialties are still here and I'm still ignoring them. It's especially humorous since mine shows an iPad and that is my least knowledgeable area. I got it because I asked a couple of questions. Note that I don't have any in the areas I am knowledgeable in: iMac, MBP, MBA, and various OS versions.
And whilst moving past a rack of sporting gear something fell on
the floor at my feet, & I barely escaped without taking a tumble.
Now, I'm an expert...!😜
It cannot be removed. Just ignore it.
You can't. As we have come to understand it, "specialty" really means "area of interest" (whether you are interested or not)
To stop it from being displayed below your name, get a specialty in a different area.

Thanks. That was fast. Disappointing, but fast!
Like a chicken on a june-bug (as we say in Texas)
Get rid of 'em permanently like I (and some others do)
The easiest way to use user styles is to use Stylish for Firefox, Stylish for Chrome, Stylish for Safari, or Stylish for Opera. It's all free, by the way.
I use the Firefox add-on and you can compare the results for yourself
Create a new profile and stop using your current one. Then never ask a question or perform any other action that might give you a speciality.
A good rule of thumb for absolutely any Apple product now is to keep one or two "burner" instances around just to test things on. This should be something that wouldn't ruin your world if you lost it. Use an old Mac as a burner, and old iPad, create one or more Apple IDs. Always test, test, test, and then re-test your tests.
[ouch!]
A user's speciality levels/ranks can not be removed. They indicate your area of knowledge in a certain area. It is good to have speciality ranks! 🙂

I believe that was the intent. However, it makes absolutely no sense and does NOT show your knowledge if you have to ask a question in order to get there. If you were knowledgeable, you wouldn't need to ask a question. Neither would you need to report others' posts, mark anyone's question as "I have this question too", etc, etc.
There are many who do not believe in this new gamification. I, for one, am ignoring it and do what I came here to do in the first place: try to help people and learn something new along the way. I'm glad you enjoy it though.
Also, for those who've been here a few years before the present system
are rather likely to have done many of those things that would start a new
specialty or advance an existing one, before now... And they don't count.
Like the points situation, part of the reality isn't the sum total exhibited;
the part missing are the total number of actually helpful (or not) replies.
Some people did not say either way; or just do not mark 'helped' & etc.
{As you said, I came here to help people. At first I had a question but
found almost immediately (in 2003) that my then-new iMac G4 was not
going to see any official support from Apple Computer, in Alaska.}
Been fun at times, and an informative learning experience, overall. 😎
You can get rid of the badges if you wish. Well, get rid of what you do not like. It's in your power. You have to have the "right" personality to do it 😎.
You need to implement this version of css code. Just off the press! This version of the css has the badges disabled.
How to incorporate the css code into your web browser. chrome, Firefox, and Safari. I use Firefox. It will be the easiest way to add the css code.

I have both Stylish "styles" posted at userstyles.org
they do NOT have tt2's latest "show points in Leaderboard Panel" code in them
